The smell of chlorine was the first thing the woman noticed in her backyard. The gentle night breeze did nothing for her cuts and bruises, she stood there for a moment, laying against the glass panel door she just hurried through, looking back into the house for any clear sense of movement from inside. She limped with a quickness away from anyone who could see her from inside with the fastness of someone who recently had a pair of scissors driven through there left leg. Each step was more painful than the last.

She fell, but she didn't care as long as no one saw. Pulling her leg closer she pushed her body against the house, trying in vain to seek some form of sanctuary, like trying to hide in a church filled with demons and ghouls, waiting to eat you. Her leg bandages were soaked now, although no longer dripping.

Looking around she saw that the backyard was a safe haven for now, no life beside her. Sighing and breathing heavily she looked around, everything was in it's place, a plastic flamingo, a few green chairs around a table, next to the pool, which took up most of the backyard, if not for the extra ornaments around it, it might seem to take up all the backyard. Crawling forwards, dragging her bad leg she reached the pools surface and looked at herself; face caked with blood, bruises and cuts, broken nose. She reached then, her arms soaking in the pool, some of the dirt and grime echoing into the recesses of the pool before taking a cupful of water and bringing it to her face, cleaning herself, trying to get over the night.

She did this again and again, closing her eyes in a small moment of amazement, the adrenaline finally giving way. Then she heard it. The glass panel door behind her opened, she heard it close. There was no time to freeze there, but that's all she did, like ice in water. His face appeared in the water besides her, and through the reflections he could see her fear. Reflection of a pair of scissors, the blood seemed to finally rest on the handle.

The scissors were now in her shoulder and she howled in pain, cutting the silence of the dreadful night. Her good arm flailed out, trying to drive the assailant away, she punched him in the face, he turned the scissors around, twisting her flesh. She managed to kick his shin with her good knee, his groin with her bad one. The Killer grunted, and headbutted her, driving the back of her head into the edge of the pool. She let go then, which was a mistake as the Killer got up and drove his foot into her, kicking her into the pool as the woman could do nothing.

The woman sank into the pool, her blood billowing forth from her shoulder and reopened leg wound. The Killer stood there above her, looking. She couldn't move, the recent concussion was making her eyes drop out of pain. The last thing she could smell was the chlorine entering through her nose, into her lungs.
A short 30 minute prompt I did with my friend :iconlonelyjojo:, the prompt was 'Chlorine'. I decided to put this into that 'Shortly Darkness' thing, because...yeah.

Enjoy~
